AN East Yorkshire steel company has made more than 50 staff redundant after appointing administrators.
Pocklington Steel Structures, based in Lancaster Road, in Carnaby, near Bridlington, appointed administrators before Christmas. Administrators said the business was a victim of the difficult trading environment and said all 54 members of staff were made redundant as the company was unable to continue to trade.
The company was a structural steelwork manufacturer and building company, which provided steel girders for building projects.
The business recorded a turnover of £6.97 million in 2010, down from £8.3 million in 2009.
Fox Lloyd Jones of Leeds have been appointed to sell assets, primarily plant and machinery.
