QUICKER internet links are being provided to more than 100 council buildings, schools, libraries and sports facilities in York through a new network.
The fibre-optic ring built by CityFibre Holdings for City of York Council is part of an eight-year contract awarded to Pinacl Solutions, worth £13.7 million, which the authority hopes will attract new businesses to the area because of the swifter connectivity it offers.
“This new network has the potential to help us reach our broadband coverage target set by the Government, and we believe this could provide York with real advantages over the rest of the UK,” said Roy Grant, the council’s head of ICT.
