RAIL passengers using the East Coast Main Line have named York as their top travel destination.
Customers using rail operator East Coast’s services were asked to choose their favourite spots across six categories, with York heading the list in three – family day out, historical attractions and rest and relaxation.
Peter Williams, East Coast’s commercial and customer service director, said: “This was a great achievement considering the stiff competition York faced from other cities such as Edinburgh, Leeds and London.”
Visit York chief executive Gillian Cruddas said: “This is fantastic news and we are delighted York has yet again come out on top.”
