GIFT store Vom Fass is opening a second outlet within York department store Fenwick later this month.

To run the two stores, the franchise, run by Mark Lancaster and Pujan Khadka, has taken on an apprentice.

Jordan Deighton, a former Canon Lee student, is working with Clair Million, a retail, team leading and management trainer at YH Training Services, to complete a full Level 2 apprenticeship in retail.

Mark and Jordan are also getting involved in the Inspirational Career and Education Assemblies during York Business Week in October, speaking to school pupils about opportunities in business and work based learning.

Mark and Pujan opened the shop, which sells oils, wines, spirits and liqueurs directy from the cask in December 2009.

Mark said: “When I was younger, someone took a hell of a risk with me when I was starting out and it paid off, so I thought I would help Jordan to do the same.

“We first took Jordan on to do a trial shift for us and he did fantastically well. He was systematically good and used his initiative. Then I started looking into apprenticeships and I was really surprised how easy it was to get involved in commencing an apprenticeship for Jordan.”
