A NORTH Yorkshire landlady is in the running to win a national competition aimed at finding the friendliest bed and breakfast welcome in the UK.
Ann Clough, who runs the 18th century farmhouse Spital Hill in Thirsk with her husband, Robin, is one of only 25 finalists in the AA’s Friendliest Landlady Award 2011.
She was among those shortlisted from more than 3,000 establishments across the country after visits from AA hotel inspectors, and the winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 16.
The Cloughs have run Spital Hill for 30 years, and Ann said: “I am so thrilled to have been nominated and I believe our guests should be treated as friends.”
