A MUM-of-two who set up her own craft business after being made redundant has been nominated for three awards.

Jo Conway, of Selby, set up noticemyname.co.uk in February to sell her home-made door plaques and memo boards.

She has been nominated for Best Website, Best Saleswoman and Best Product in the awards, run by Mumpreneur UK, an on-line resource and support network for UK mothers in business.

Jo decided to go it alone after being made redundant from her sales job with healthcare product company Covidien in October.

Jo said: “I went to art college and I have always been into design, but I have never used it in my work.”

Before Covidien, Jo was a saleswoman for Manpower and the Office Depot and she decided to use her sales skills for herself.

Jo has been promoting her website through Twitter, Facebook and at local craft events and shopping evenings, including York Does Vintage.

She intends to start creating more bespoke vintage items, as well as launching a range of products for pet owners, which she intends to sell at Howden Agricultural Show.

The mum of two-year-old Bella and one-year-old Lewis, has developed a pouch for children to place their baby teeth in for collection by the tooth fairy, which has been nominated for Best Product.

The pouches have a tooth fairy or a dinosaur on as decoration.

Jo said: “My head’s just full of ideas. I wake up at 3am with ideas.

“Rising petrol prices and fewer pay increases means that for the average family there is less money to spend on gifts for friends, children and new babies.

“People said they wanted ‘something different’ without breaking the bank.”
