YET more awards are being showered on Welcome To Yorkshire.

This time it scooped the 2009 Northern Marketing Award for Most Effective Public Sector Campaign.

It is the tourism agency’s third award since relaunching seven months ago, following TravelMole’s award for Best Tourism Website and the International Business Forum’s for Innovation in Marketing.

The Northern Marketing Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of the north of England’s marketing and communication industries, and the award marks the second year running the tourism agency has won following last year’s success in the Most Effective Use of International Marketing category.

The judging panel for this year’s ceremony praised Welcome to Yorkshire’s “A long weekend in Yorkshire isn’t long enough”

as being a great example of a fully integrated marketing campaign.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “This third award just goes to show the success we are having raising the profile of Yorkshire.

“Our award-winning campaign has put Yorkshire at the forefront of people’s minds and the evidence shows that more and more people are favouring Yorkshire as their tourist destination of choice.

“Visitors numbers to the region are up and outperforming the rest of the UK and, with so much to see and do, a long weekend in Yorkshire really isn’t long enough.”

The award-winning campaign integrated a wide range of media including TV advertising, TV sponsorship, outdoor activity, national and regional press and online technologies.
