CELEBRITY chef Brian Turner will be cooking up a storm at the York Marriott Chase Bar & Grill later this month.

His two-day cook-in on June 26 and 27 celebrates the opening of the 151 bedroom hotel’s revamped restaurant and bar, part of a £500,000 refurbishment of the ground floor.

Invited guests of the general manager, Katharina Barenthien, will converge on the hotel, as well as the paying public.

Katharina first made contact with Yorkshire-born Mr Turner, well known for his appearances on BBC2’s Ready Steady Cook, through Welcome To Yorkshire.

She said: “We were looking for a top Yorkshire chef with whom we could work, and at the same time Brian was looking for a Yorkshire venue where he could display his skills – so it was a perfect fit.

“He will be working alongside our own Romanian head chef, Georgeta Vasu Kotze, and over those two days the two of them will cook a special Yorkshire menu, kicking off with a spiced breast of quail and asparagus salad with a green apple dressing, followed by halibut and Whitby crab pudding with Champagne and dill butter sauce.

“Main course is a Yorkshire lamb hotpot with a local pea purée and spring onion gravy, with a raspberry and white chocolate trifle to finish. Wines will be carefully selected for the meal. Price £79, including accompanying wines.

“Our new Chase Bar & Grill will continue to concentrate on sourcing its ingredients from Yorkshire farms.”
