CRICKETING legend Alec Stewart visits York next week in his role as an ambassador for Yorkshire Bank.

The former England captain, the most capped England cricketer of all time both in Tests and one day internationals, will meet an invited audience of local business people at Yorkshire Bank’s North Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre (FSC), Aviator Court, Clifton Moor, on Tuesday.

Mr Stewart, who scored more than 8,000 Test runs during his 13-year international career, will take part in a lunchtime questions and answers session with an audience of bank staff, members and other business people.

Before lunch, Mr Stewart will join senior staff from Yorkshire Bank’s North Yorkshire FSC on a visit to Bootham School, York, where he will meet cricket-playing pupils for a question and answer session after which he will sign cricket bats.

Martin Ibbetson, managing partner of Yorkshire Bank North Yorkshire FSC, said: “We’re grateful that Alec Stewart is giving up time in his busy schedule to inspire young cricketers and meet and talk to local business people.

“There are many similarities between captaining a successful sports side and running a business and we are sure that the audience will be very interested in hearing what Alec has to say.”

Yorkshire Bank’s North Yorkshire FSC covers Harrogate, York and across to Scarborough.

The FSC has 35 staff at working in multi-discipline banking teams at York and Harrogate, including the biggest specialist agri-banking team in the bank’s UK network. Like other Yorkshire Bank FSCs, it uses funding from deposits to support investments in the local community.
