A REVOLUTIONARY style of bus advertising has been unveiled by First UK Bus and CBS Outdoor in York.
In a trial, believed to be the first on the UK mainland, two single-deck First buses have been kitted out with the new ‘Superside’ double-deck advertising sides that extend above the vehicle roof.
The new and innovative advertising concept was the brainchild of Leon Daniels, Customer Service and Communications Director for First UK Bus.
He said: “Bus advertising is a valuable source of revenue for bus companies and double-decker sites are worth more than double their single-deck equivalents because they are of course ‘head and shoulders’ above the traffic.
The first company to sign up to use the new advertising space is the York Museum Trust. Charlotte Dootson, marketing manager for the Trust said: “York Castle Museum is one of the leading attractions and we are delighted to be the first organisation to take advantage of this new eye catching display.”
Jason Cotterrell, Commercial Director of CBS Outdoor, said: “This is a pioneering new product for single deckers, which will help CBS Outdoor to maximise the single-deck advertising asset. First is forward-thinking in helping CBS Outdoor deliver vital revenue for both partners”
Wrightbus of Northern Ireland is also involved in the project and has carried out a series of health and safety checks to ensure the Supersides are safe from the rigours of bus travel in all types of weather conditions.
