MARK Granger has been appointed head of logistics for Pavers, the growing York-based shoe shop empire. It is the second time he has worked for the company.

He succeeds the recently-retired Graham Paver, son of founder Catherine Paver, who set up the company in 1971 and built it into one of the leading retailers of branded and own brand quality comfort footwear in the UK and Ireland, selling through 75 outlets and counting.

That comprises 11 full priced shops, 23 discount concessions and 32 outlets plus eight Stoccato stores (so far) specialising in catwalk brands. Last year turnover stood at £50 million.

In his new role Mark will be based at the huge £3 million, 40,000 sq ft head office and high-tech distribution centre at Northminster Park, Poppleton, where more than 90 people work.

He reports directly to Stuart Paver, managing director, while Steve Collyer, general manager, retains overall responsibility for all operational matters.

Mark briefly worked for Pavers many years ago, before moving to Moores Furniture Group where he held a number of commercial roles including service director.

In 2006, Mark joined Paul Foster Interiors (PFI), Pavers shoes shop fit partners, as general manager.

In his time at PFI Mark played a major role in the development of operating systems and efficiency improvements in both companies. At Pavers he will play a strong lead role in the ongoing development of its logistics systems.
