A LAW firm has opened its first office in York.

Stowe Family Law’s new office in the Tower House Business Centre on Fishergate takes its total to 19, “further building on its position as the country’s largest specialist family law practice,” the firm said.

The office is headed up by managing partner Chris Birch who practices all aspects of family law with expertise in resolving complex financial issues within divorce involving significant capital, trusts, different types of pensions and assets.

Chris has also advised on a number of cases involving family farms and agricultural businesses across Yorkshire.

The office will also have access to the firm’s in-house forensic accountancy team who are trained to examine financial disclosure specifically within divorce proceedings.

They are experts in analysing the financial affairs of individuals, businesses, trusts and other investment vehicles situated both in the UK and overseas, to protect our client’s interests.

Chris said: “It’s a really exciting time for Stowe Family Law and I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to open and lead this new office in York.”

Stowe Family Law CEO Charles Hartwell said: “Stowe’s reputation for excellence and outstanding client care is attracting a diverse caseload of local and international clients, many with highly complex affairs.

“The arrival of our office in York takes us to 19 across England and is our sixth in Yorkshire.

"We are excited about having a presence in the city.”

Its other Yorkshire offices are based in Harrogate, Wetherby, Leeds, Beverley and Ilkley.

Stowe has one of the 33 offices at Tower House business centre which fronts on to Fishergate and dates back to the late 1800s when it was built as the Northern command headquarters for the British Army who occupied the building from 1878 to 1958.
