"SHERBURN in Elmet is one of the very best places to live and work in Yorkshire, and a place I'm proud to call home," explained Stacey Jackson, who works at a company which is expanding onto the new Sherburn2 development.

Sherburn2, which is a major development set to create around 2,000 new jobs, is one of the big investment sites supported by Selby District Council.  Stacey's employer, Cromwell Polythene, is expanding onto the new site, creating new jobs and securing the future of many more.

Stacey moved to Sherburn in 1992 when she was just five years old, and the town has been an integral part of her life ever since. She attended primary school in neighbouring village Barkston Ash.  "I was always drawn back to Sherburn, and when I left university, I moved back to Sherburn full time, joining a flourishing supplier on the Enterprise Park.

"I left again for personal reasons, moving to Northamptonshire; but I couldn't settle and came back in 2017 after five years away.  I didn't have a job to go to, but such are the opportunities in the area that I soon found my dream one."

Stacey works as a Marketing Coordinator for Cromwell Polythene, a company that's investing in the Selby district, and creating new jobs.

"I love my job. It's just perfect. Cromwell Polythene is a very friendly, family-run company, based on old-fashioned values such as loyalty and integrity, and we are also going places - literally.  Our rapid expansion means we're moving to purpose-built premises at Sherburn 2. This demonstrates our commitment to the town."

Stacey is also committed to the Selby district. After some time away, she's settled back into her home town and has recently purchased her first house in a nearby village.

"This was a no-brainer.  Sherburn and the Selby district is a great place to live, with York, Leeds and Selby in easy travelling distance. They're all very different, but have their distinctive attractions. In particular, Selby has changed beyond recognition in recent years. It now boasts some superb restaurants, great visitor and leisure venues and thriving nightlife.

"In addition, the Selby district is a great place to enjoy life because house prices here are lower than neighbouring cities.  People get more for their money in the district.  There's a great selection of quality and affordable homes, offering something for everyone.

"On a personal level, this is great, but on a wider level it helps to grow the local workforce - a significant number of Cromwell employees come from Sherburn and surrounding villages - and to support local retailers, services and industries," she explained.
