NATIONWIDE timber and builders’ merchant Howarth Timber & Building Supplies has strengthened its regional management structure with the addition of a new area manager for East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and the North East Midlands.

Jack Taylor has been appointed to the role and is responsible for engaging with the York, Malton, Barnsley, Doncaster, Thorne, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Mansfield and Derby branches on group-wide initiatives and improvements.

Mr Taylor began his career within the builder’s merchant industry at the age of just 16, at M and K Builders. After enjoying ten years with the family-run business, Jack began his career with Travis Perkins, where he held the position of regional director for six years before joining Howarth Timber.

A TAX investigation expert with more than 40 years of experience has joined the growing team at Independent Tax.

Brenda Brown of Shipley is now based at Independent Tax’s headquarters on the Brackenholme Business Park in North Yorkshire, between Selby and Howden, on a part-time basis.

After working as a Tax Inspector in HMRC’s Bradford office for more than 20 years, Mrs Brown moved on to work in private accountancy practices, including the Manchester office of Smith & Williamson. She first met Gary Brothers, the managing partner of Independent Tax, when they both worked for Deloitte several years ago.

ENGINEER Henry Norris has joined Yorkshire-based shredding machinery specialist UNTHA UK as project manager.

Responsible for coordinating client installations from the point of shredder sale to commissioning and handover, his key responsibility is to oversee the successful completion of every project on time, to budget, and in line with client expectations.
