A ROOFING roofing company is planning to create jobs and hopes to double its turnover after moving to a new home on the edge of York.

TA Roofing has relocated from sites in York and Bishopthorpe to the Lindum Business Park in Elvington.

Managing director Stuart Simpson says the move will provide the space needed to meet a growing demand for services.

It will also allow him to recruit at least six more people, taking TA Roofing’s total workforce to 18.

Mr Simpson chose to move to the Lindum Business Park because it allowed the company to have both offices and warehouse storage space in one location.

He said: “I started the business in 2009 and we have been growing ever since.

“I am not someone who can just sit still – I want to keep pushing and expanding.

“We had reached capacity at our old sites and we couldn’t continue to grow without relocating.

“It’s actually quite hard to find somewhere that has both office and storage space. We were also keen to be on this side of York as the traffic connections and road links are so much better here.

“The new premises are 8,000 sq feet in size plus office areas, which is four times bigger than our old place allowing us plenty of space to develop.”

TA Roofing specialises in roofing and reroofing projects. However the business has its own team of tradesmen who can manage everything from bricklaying to joinery.

Mr Simpson, who is a bricklayer by trade, said he started the company after spotting an obvious gap in the market.

TA Roofing is a member of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and is one of only two York companies to be classified as a Competent Roofer, meaning it can self-certify that its work meets building regulations.

Business Park manager Lynn Ritson said she was delighted to welcome Stuart and his team to the site, which is built around the Elvington headquarters of construction company Lindum Group.

She said: “We are really happy to have TA Roofing among the first tenants on our new business park.

“The business park opened at the start of the year and has proved popular, with only one office space still available.”

Mr Simpson added: “Lindum were very helpful following our initial enquiry and were also able to adapt to our individual requirements and we hope we can continue to grow on this site.”
