THE contractors behind a new development by the Joseph Rowntree Trust have appointed structural engineers for the £24 million build.

Wates Residential North and Strategic Team Group have awarded the contracted to Leeds-based Adept for the New Lodge care village project.

The new development is replacing the demolished care facility known as Red Lodge, and work on the foundations for the first of six new buildings is already underway, with New Lodgeset to open in 2021.

Adept, which was founded in 2007 and has annual turnover of £2 million, has also been instructed to provide civil and structural engineering services for the £1.5 million refurbishment of the Folk Hall – a community centre in New Earswick.

The Joseph Rowntree Trust manages approximately 2,500 homes in Yorkshire and the North East, half of which are located in New Earswick.
