THE Selby headquartered biomass supplier which is this year investing more than £10 million in a new wood refinery has appointed a general manager to lead the company’s expansion.

Y Pellets, headquartered at Brackenholme Business Park, has appointed Chris Wilson to the role having seen continuous growth within the renewable energy sector.

The appoint comes after the firm unveiling its expansion plans including a recent announcement to invest more than £10 million this year alone constructing a new state-of-the-art wood refinery in Goole.

Mr Wilson brings more than 17 years of operations management, logistics as well as import and export experience to Y Pellets which supplies sustainably-sourced biomass wood pellets to homes, private and public sector businesses across the UK.

He has been tasked with playing “a vital role” in the company’s strategic growth, establishing maximum distribution capability nationally as well as working closely with the company’s European pellet manufacturing plants to coordinate transportation and delivery of thousands of tonnes of sustainable wood pellets direct to a dedicated 5,000 tonne storage facility at the Port.

Y Pellets managing director Neil Holland said: “Chris is an integral part of the management team and brings a very professional and high level of expertise in terms of coordinating, organising and managing the supply of wood pellets from initial transportation through to overseeing deliveries and final customer distribution.

“His logistics and operational experience is second to none and as we continue to develop and expand the business, his knowledge will allow Y Pellets to provide a unique, all-encompassing level of service to its UK clients.”

Mr Wilson, from Hull, has worked for various national and European companies at management level including timber import organisations, transportation and logistics companies as well as supply chain service providers operating worldwide.

He said: “Y Pellets is one of the fastest growing companies within the UK’s renewables energy and biomass fuel sector so to be part of the company from the start and play a dedicated part in its growth and continued success, is a great position to be in.

“The team brings the very highest level of expertise across all areas of the business and this, alongwith our drive and exceptional standard of product, sets us apart from the rest of the industry so I’m delighted to be part of it.”
