YORK construction companies are being invited to a 'Meet the Buyer' event about contracts for the £9 million Guildhall redevelopment.
The city council has appointed main contractor Interserve, who will be working with York-based SES Engineering Services, but part of the winning bid involved a commitment to local suppliers.
Now they want to meet construction companies and suppliers in roofing, scaffolding, groundworks, joinery, plastering, steelwork, masonry, heritage specialists, decorating, glazers, floorers, fire safety, lighting, mechanical, electrical wholesalers.
Interserve's John Gittins said they have a strong pedigree in York, having just finished two projects at the University of York. They are aiming to place at least 70 per cent of orders and subcontracts for the Guildhall project locally.
The event is at West Offices on Tuesday, November 28, 5.30pm to 7.30pm. To register interest go to www.eventbrite.co.uk and search for 'York Guildhall'.
