FOUR Yorkshire law firms have been recognised as being among England and Wales’s best at the Law Society’s Excellence Awards in London.

York-based Paradigm Family Law won the Excellence in Business Development award, while Hull firm rradar won the Excellence in Client Service award and was also highly commended in the Excellence in Business Development category, and Gordons LLP, of Leeds, were highly commended in the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion category.

The judges said of Paradigm Law: "What sets this business development innovation apart from all the other entrants was the powerful combination of innovation, client value and firm benefit. Paradigm addressed the transparency of pricing and challenges the dominance of the hourly rate - the primary barrier they faced in acquiring clients. Drawing on past experience and analysis of costs and fee data, not only have they developed a transparent and fixed price model that matches the stages of the divorce process, they built into their proposition a more manageable payment solution. The result has been business growth, more satisfied clients and vastly improved cash flow. The final proof of their bold initiative is that their model is now being sought after by firms across the globe."

Joe Egan, president of the Law Society of England and Wales, said: "This year we received a record number of nominations for the awards, highlighting the extraordinary commitment of solicitors to serving their clients.

"Solicitors from every corner of the land were represented, which shows the breadth of quality throughout the profession. The excellent work being done by solicitors across Yorkshire is highlighted by the number of award winners from the region. I want to congratulate all those who work at Paradigm Family Law, rradar and Gordons LLP for their extraordinary efforts and commitment to excellence."
