YORK'S first dedicated digital conference has been hailed a success with the sell-out event attracting 200 people.

DotYork was held at City Screen York yesterday after being organised by two of the city's digital creatives, Rick Chadwick and Jonic Linley.

The one-day event featured a line-up of speakers including web designer Laura Kalbag, creative director at Offroadcode James Young, Craig Lockwood, who recently opened FoundersHub and was responsible for last year’s Handheld Conference, designer, writer, podcaster and speaker Rachel Shillcock, Ashley Baxter, who is a web app building director at Brokers Direct, and Harry Roberts, a consultant front-end architect and previously a senior developer at BSkyB.

Speaking at the conference Mr Chadwick said: "We didn't really know what to expect in terms of turn-out but were delighted when we sold out three weeks ago.

"We have had a great response from people here, who have thanked us for organising DotYork, and lots of people who got in touch too say they welcomed this idea.

"There clearly was a need for something like this to bring together exclusively the digital sector in York."

As well as the one-day conference, which Mr Chadwick and Mr Linley plan to host again, DotYork also hosts monthly meetings and smaller events throughout the year.

The DotYork conference was supported by York’s web hosting company, Bytemark Hosting, as well as anaplan, GitHub, and treehouse.
