A FAMILY with historic links to the hotel industry in York has opened a new restaurant.
The Mount Royale Hotel has been owned and operated by the Oxtoby family since 1967 and this week opened OXO’s Restaurant on The Mount.
The restaurant, which has been operated by outside companies in recent years, offers a variety of styles and dining experiences including an outdoor dining area known as the Gazeover, and will be overseen by head chef Russell Johnson using locally sourced ingredients.
Stuart Oxtoby, hotel director, said: “Guests have often said that they would like to see a return to how the restaurant was managed by the family and we have come up with a formula that we think will delight and entertain.
“We’re not revealing everything about our plans yet, but there is a definite return to the way my mother and father operated OXO’s from 1967 onwards.”
