A NEW networking group which has grown from a virtual LinkedIn group to 240 members that meet for a variety of events around York has entered The Press Business Awards 2012.
John Lloyd-Hughes, who started the Made In York group in March, hopes it could win New Business Of The Year and Business And Community Link after a staggering response from businesses.
John, director of printing company Orbis Print, originally started the group to create a small circle of businesses to share ideas with and generate business. He said: “This has evolved into a business purely due to the demand in the marketplace.
“That being the case we are determined to grasp the opportunity.
“We want to encourage local business ventures, help develop business growth and promote procurement from the locality,” he said. “We believe is critical for the UK’s economic revival and this is our opportunity to do something about it.”
