A COUPLE who took over a failing music business now employ a team of seven running more than 150 lessons a week.

Pocklington Music was in dire straits when husband and wife duo Jane and Ian Cole took in on in 2012, 13 years and several owners after it was originally founded.

They could see that Pocklington Music had the potential for expansion so the music school was expanded from only providing guitar and piano lessons to include drums, singing, woodwind, brass, music technology and recording production lessons and courses.

Pocklington Music currently conducts on average more than 150 lessons each week with a team of six qualified tutors who have years of playing and performance experience.

A recording studio was built into two of the rooms above the shop in 2013 and is busy recording, producing and mixing music for local artists and has produced more than 15 singles, EPs and albums for a number of bands and singer songwriters.

The business is also home to Sinners Music, an independent record label managed by Mr Cole that helps local artists get their music out with distribution deals.
