A NORTH Yorkshire businesswoman’s decision to leave a high-profile marketing role to start her own consultancy is paying off – and now she’s teaming up with her sister to grow the company.

Deborah Goodall left her job as head of marketing for the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, organisers of the Great Yorkshire Show, in 2011.

With nearly 20 years’ experience in client-side marketing she felt the time was right to start her own consultancy.

Consequently, she founded Aer8 Marketing, and now the company is in the running for the York Press Business Awards in the Small Business of the Year category.

According to Ms Goodall, Aer8 is growing solely through word of mouth recommendations. The business has grown 300 percent in the last three years. Now she is extending the service by partnering with her sister, a data protection consultant, to provide a more complete service to clients.

The company has helped clients ranging from venues in London to Yorkshire tourist attractions. In 2014, Aer8 Marketing also worked on projects around Yorkshire’s Grand Depart.

Ms Goodall also delivers social media training workshops, helping businesses understand the potential and pitfalls of Facebook and Twitter. As a result of her work, she was awarded a ‘High Impact’ Award for Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2014.
