ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (HOPGROVE ROUNDABOUT TO TOWTHORPE MOOR LANE JUNCTION) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the City of York, to enable carriageway resurfacing, road marking and stud renewal and routine cyclical maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Sunday 26 February 2017 for 5 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, between 7pm and 7am, at times during the works, to:
(i) close the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Hopgrove Roundabout and Towthorpe Moor Lane Junction, a distance of 3430 metres; and
(ii) ban vehicles from entering and leaving the A64 at its junctions with North Lane and Barr Lane.
It will also be necessary, 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph, 40mph, and at times a 10mph speed restriction on sections of the above length of the A64 as described in (i). The 10mph speed restriction will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle.
(ii) impose an overtaking ban and close all laybys adjacent to the above length of A64 as described in (i).
During the carriageway and junction closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A64. The Order comes into force on 25 February 2017 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
