City of York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 21" day of July 2022 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) & (4). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (5), (6) & (7).


(1) Railway Walk. York

This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway / cycleway on Railway Walk, York between its junctions with Back Lane From Adjacent Marygate To 14 Earlsborough Terrace and Marygate Lane (closed footway/cycleway) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 25 July 2022 and ending at 1500hrs on Tuesday, 26 July 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and cyclists will be signed during the works period. The subway between Marygate Lane and Bootham Terrace will remain open throughout.

(2) Granville Terrace. York
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Granville Terrace, York between its junction with Lawrence Street and the southern extended boundary of property No. 1, Granville Terrace (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 26 July 2022 and ending at 1800hrs on Wednesday, 27 July 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between OSOOhrs and 1800hrs each day. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(3) Scarcroft Road. York
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Scarcroft Road, York between its junction with The Mount and a location 22 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 25 July 2022 and ending at 2359hrs on Tuesday, 09 August 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(4) Coppergate. Piccadilly Ft Pavement. York
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Coppergate, York between its junction with Piccadilly and the projected south-western boundary of property No. 26 (closed road) and prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footway on Piccadilly & Pavement, York (i) on the north-eastern side of Piccadilly between its junction with Pavement and the projected south-eastern boundary of Property No. 9 and (ii) on the south-eastern side of Pavement between the junction with Piccadilly and the projected north-western boundary of property No. 10 (closed footway) during the period when surveying works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2100hrs on Monday, 25 July 2022 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 26 July 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that Coppergate will only be closed between 0001 hrs and 0600 hrs on Tuesday, 26 July 2022. Additionally, all 'on-street' parking places situated on (a) the north-eastern side of Piccadilly, York between the projected southernmost boundary of property No 3 and a location 28 metres southeast of said boundary and (b) the north-western side of Piccadilly between the projected southernmost boundary of property No. 6 and a location 12 metres southeast of said boundary (suspension areas) will be subject to suspension. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period.


(5) Agar Street. York

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Agar Street, York between its junction with Monkgate and the projected north-western boundary of property No. 1 a (closed road) during the period when water mains maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 01 August 2022 and ending at 1800hrs on Monday, 01 August 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(6) Millfield Lane Level Crossing. Nether Poppleton
This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Millfield Lane Level Crossing, Nether Poppleton between locations 20 metres either side of said level crossing (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Tuesday, 05 July 2022 and ending at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 August 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period. Vehicular access to Millfield Lane has been arranged via the ANPR camera-controlled section in Low Poppleton Lane, without penalty, for the duration of the works period only. Pedestrians will be allowed to cross the level crossing during the daytime with the assistance of on-site marshals only.


(7) Feasegate. York

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Feasegate, York between its junction with St Sampson's Square and a location 25 metres southwest of said junction (closed road) during the period when building maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Sunday, 31 July 2022 and ending at 2200hrs on Sunday, 31 July 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in Feasegate is suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said road. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/ barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
