ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (PICKERING INTERCHANGE TO SHERBURN INTERCHANGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the District of Ryedale, to enable pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, traffic sign, routine maintenance and road marking and stud works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Friday 18 September 2020 for 4 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, between 7pm on Friday 18 September 2020 and 7am Monday 23 September 2020 and any subsequent weekend thereafter until the works have been completed and between 7pm and 7am on Monday 21 September 2020 and any subsequent Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night thereafter until the said works have been completed:
(i) impose a temporary 50mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A64 eastbound carriageway from 182 metres east of Brambling Fields overbridge to 534 metres east of Brambling Fields overbridge, a distance of 352 metres. The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle;

(ii) impose a temporary 40mph and at times a 10mph speed restriction on the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 534 metres east of Brambling Fields overbridge to 707 metres east of Carr Lane Junction, a distance of 12250 metres;

(iii) close the A64 eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Pickering Interchange to St Hilda's Street Junction, a distance of 17570 metres;

(iv) close the A64 westbound carriageway from St Hilda's Street Junction to the entry slip road at Brambling Fields Interchange, a distance of 15540 metres;

(v) close the A64 eastbound entry slip road at Pickering Interchange;

(vi) close the A64 eastbound exit and entry and westbound exit slip roads at Brambling Fields Interchange; and

(vii) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the A64 at its junctions adjacent to the above lengths of carriageway as described in (iii) and (iv);

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary to close, 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, the A64 laybys adjacent to the above lengths of carriageway as described in (iii) and (iv). Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A64. The Order comes into force on 17 September 2020 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
