THE DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL (SNIPE LANE) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2020
SECTION 226(1 )(a), TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990 AND THE ACQUSITION OF LAND ACT 1981
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Darlington Borough Council ('the Council') has made the Darlington Borough Council (Snipe Lane) Compulsory Purchase Order 2020 ('the Order') under section 226(1 )(a) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended). The Council is about to submit the Order to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government For confirmation and, if confirmed, the Order will authorise the Council to purchase compulsorily all interests in the land described below ('the Land') for the purpose of facilitating the carrying out of development, redevelopment or improvement on or in relation to the Land comprising the construction of new highways infrastructure (including improved access by motor vehicles, on foot and other modes of transport), up to 449 new affordable and market dwellings, and related landscaping which development, redevelopment and improvement is likely to contribute to the achievement of the promotion or improvement of the economic, social or environmental well-being of the Council's area.
A copy of the Order and the map referred to in the Order have been deposited at the Council offices at the Town Hall, Darlington, DL1 5QT where they may be seen online at the Council's website:

Any objections to the Order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government at the Planning Casework Unit, 5 St. Philip's Place, Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 2PW (
) before close of business on 25th September 2020 and should state the title of the Order, the grounds of the objection, the objector's address and interests in the Land.
DESCRIPTION OF THE LAND
Plot 1 A narrow strip of land comprising surfaced track and grass verge between hedges, orientated east-west and running from the junction with Neasham Road at the eastern end to the junction with the track leading to Newstead Farm and Livery at the western end and measuring 4,168 square metres in area.
Plot 2 A narrow strip of land comprising concrete track and grass verge between hedges, orientated north-south and running from its junction with Snipe Lane at the southern end to the entrance to Newstead Farm and Livery at the northern end and measuring 1,255 square metres in area.
Plot 3 A small triangular piece of land overgrown with brambles and scrub between converging hedge lines and grass verge to the northern side of Snipe Lane close to the junction of Snipe Lane and Neasham Road and measuring 81 square metres in area.
