THE sedate surroundings of Castle Howard will next week be rocked by the Bat Out Of Hell that is Meat Loaf.
However, simply fast-forward 24 hours and the region will once again be rocked by the “Loaf” family – this time in the shape of his daughter.
Pearl Aday, daughter of the rock legend, will play at York rock venue Fibbers on Saturday, July 12 as part of a UK tour, with her band, Pearl.
As well as playing the famous York venue – she will also be supporting her dad at his Castle Howard show.
Predictably, she has had a very musical upbringing, singing for several years on stage with her dad, as well as backing up rock legends Motley Crue.
Pearl said: “I grew up surrounded by rock ‘n’ roll, soul, blues, funk, and country.
“It’s what I love. It’s what I’m made of. It’s in my blood.
“I think people need a bit of respite from the candy culture that’s become the norm today. People want substance. You can feel it. We don’t want to be lied to anymore.
“I don’t remember when I discovered that I could sing. I was always singing. As a little girl I was singing all the time, putting on shows for everyone.”
In 1994, Pearl joined her father on stage, and toured with him worldwide as a backup singer for nine years.
“I’ve grown up watching my father perform, but the lessons I learned, and the experiences I gained by performing with him are invaluable.” Her debut album features contributions from Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell.
The Meat Loaf gig is one part of a trilogy of large concerts taking place at the stately home this month.
Boy band Boyzone will perform on July 12, followed by singer songwriter Katie Melua on July 13.
Tickets for Meat Loaf, which are priced at £37.50, are available by phoning 0871 424 4444 or from Castle Howard on 01653 648623.
