YORK photographer, designer and artist Michael Lynch is holding an exhibition at the Goji Vegetarian Café, in Goodramgate, York, until the end of December.

“This is a selling show of photographs of Venice, and all the images have been printed on a heavyweight watercolour paper, giving them qualities that you would associate more with fine-art paintings or very early Victorian photographs,” he says.

“I’ve also included one painting which, although not of Venice, is a view over the Italian countryside in Tuscany.”

Michael spent three years studying graphic design, photography and printmaking at the York School of Art, followed by several years working in design studios in London’s West End, and he later became the editorial artist for the Yorkshire Evening Press.

Now 55, he works as a freelance artist specialising in graphic design, photography, and film production for multi-media events in collaboration with other artists and musicians.

On Tuesday, he provides the video projection to accompany tenor John Potter and digital composer Ambrose Field’s setting of vocal fragments by Guillaume Dufay for a 7.30pm concert entitled Being Dufay at the National Centre for Early Music. Tickets for this York Early Music Christmas Festival concert are available on 01904 658338 or online at ncem.co.uk

A further performance will follow in February at the Perth International Arts Festival in Australia.

Michael’s photographs can be seen throughout this month at Goji from 9.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 5.30pm on Sundays.
