A ROUSING chorus of Christmas songs thrilled residents of a York residential home when they were visited by the York Male Voice Choir.

Jean Scott, a resident of Grimston Court off Hull Road, was one of those who enjoyed the performance. Choir member George Tingle, 81, said: “We have done this for two or three years now. It went down very, very well indeed.

“They really appreciated the fact that we took the time to go and sing with them. When we went last year there was a woman who hadn’t spoken for three months through illness, but after we had been they said they couldn’t shut her up.

“We do it to help others – that’s what it all boils down to.”
