CAMPAIGNERS to keep Burnholme Community College open took to song to show their fight goes on after they were told it will close.
Pupils, staff and parents expressed their feelings about their school in music at a special evening performance after an appeal against City of York Council’s decision to shut its doors was launched.
Music teacher Sue Williamson said: “We have hosted lots of performances over the past few years, but this is the most important in my opinion as it is a chance to show the council just how much people love this school.”
Dawn Leatt, chair of the Burnholme Community College Parents Action Group, said the “entertaining and rousing” evening of song would also be an act of solidarity after the announcement of the closure decision.
“Although many people are angry and sad, we are also still hopeful as we have an excellent case for appeal against the decision.” she said.
