THE Brides event hosted by The Press and Yorkshire Living attracted hundreds of visitors to Knavesmire to sample the best the region has to offer for those planning their big day.

The spring exhibition yesterday at York Racecourse featured more than 70 stands offering advice from professionals on everything from wedding rings and bridesmaid dresses to flowers and photography. As well as stalls, the event also featured two packed wedding fashion shows.

Speaking after the exhibition yesterday, organiser Alison Spaven said it had been a “really good day”.

“It was manic this morning,” she said. “We had queues waiting to get in. This morning’s fashion show was standing room only and the afternoon show was full too.

“I think we had about 850 people throughout the day and I think a lot of the stall holders have had a really good day too.”

The spring event follows the success of the autumn show which attracted more than 100 visitors.
