Daniel Powter: Hard to beat Bad Day

Daniel Powter has revealed he never felt under pressure to top his big hit Bad Day - because it probably can't be done.

The Canadian singer-songwriter had a massive hit with the song in 2005.

But he said: "I never really looked at it as having to take on the pressure of beating it because it was almost unattainable.

"It was almost a blessing because it was so big. I don't think a lot of people could really be realistic with me writing another song that big; even if I had a song that did nearly half of what that one did, that would probably be considered a big song."

Daniel also revealed he didn't even hear a pop song until he was 12.

He said: "My parents would only let us listen to symphonic music like classical music. We weren't allowed to listen to 'the Devil's music', so probably until I was 12, I'd never even heard much of a pop song.

"Then going through my mum's collection I discovered The Beatles when I was 12 years old, and that's when I started to really fall in love with pop music, and after that it was Beatles and Bowie, Prince and Fleetwood Mac."
