New Tricks has been recommissioned by the BBC for two more series with the current "dream team" cast.
While similar returning dramas including Hustle and Spooks have been axed for the time being, New Tricks - which stars Amanda Redman, Dennis Waterman, Alun Armstrong and James Bolam - is still going strong, with the latest series pulling in up to 9.6 million viewers per episode.
Ben Stephenson, controller of BBC Drama Commissioning, said: "New Tricks continues to grow and is a huge favourite with the audience making it the highest rating drama on TV so far this year.
"Amanda, Dennis, Alun and James are a dream team that BBC One viewers have taken to their hearts and I'm thrilled the show will be back on our screens for two more years."
The series, about a band of old school ex-coppers brought out of retirement to work on unsolved and open cases, is currently in its eighth series.
