Grand Opera House York
The Grand Opera House had a chequered history before it re-established itself as a theatre in the early 1990s.
A former corn exchange, as the SS Empire it was York's biggest music hall, submitting to wrestling and bingo before it closed down.
With a beautifully restored interior and great acoustics it has played host to great touring musicals.
