Army Regimental Museum of the Royal Dragoon Guards
The display room of the Army's Regimental Museum glows with pride, displaying the shining silver and brassware that makes up the historical treasure of the Royal Dragoon Guards and the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire.
The museum in Tower Street provides a fascinating insight into the history of our fighting men and of wars fought throughout the centuries. There is interactive museum softwear.
A large area is devoted to the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment, which was formed in 1958 from the West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire Regiments.
The Regimental Colours and King's Colour of the 3rd and 4th Militia Battalions, and the West Yorkshire Regiment, line the entry to the room, along with paintings and photographs of the Colonel in Chief, the Duchess of Kent.
The museum now has on display the Dettingen Standard, reputedly the oldest British cavalry standard in existence, dating from 1743.
There are also memorials to the 13 men of the West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire Regiments who won the Victoria Cross, the nation's highest award for gallantry.
