Micklegate Bar was the most important of the four main gates as it was the road from London and was used by visiting Kings and Queens.
It now contains models, paintings and sculptures showing the history of the Royal Bar.
There are helmets to try on and a mock up of the bar to put your head through and take photographs which look as if you are standing on top of the bar.
