Built by craftsmen over three centuries, All Saints' Church in North Street is a fine example of a medieval church.
The craftsmanship is of a very high standard and the restored roof, with its gaily painted figures, is an absolute pleasure to behold and will cheer up even the most disgruntled visitor.
It possess a fine collection of 14th century stained glass, one of the few places alongside the Minster that still has leaded medieval glass in its original position.
You may also be surprised to see one of the figures in the window wearing glasses, a reminder of just how long we have been wearing spectacles.
A fire in 1997 badly damaged the south roof, but the chancel roof with its fine angels and the stained glass windows were undamaged.
