FORMER York City striker Richard Cresswell joined fellow ex-Minstermen Dean Kiely and Jonathan Greening by booking a place in the Premier League next season.

Cresswell figured in Stoke City's 0-0 draw at home to Leicester City on the final day of the Championship season, a result which secured automatic promotion to the top flight.

West Brom's Kiely and Greening celebrated promotion as champions following their 2-0 victory over ten-man QPR on the final day.

Goals from Do-heon Kim and Chris Brunt ushered the Baggies into the Premier League.

Former Scarborough boss Neil Warnock saw his Crystal Palace side clinch a play-off spot with a 5-0 victory over Burnley, while ex-Leeds United manager Kevin Blackwell missed out as his Sheffield United team were beaten 3-2 away by ten-man Southampton.

Palace will meet Bristol City in the play-off semi-finals, with former Leeds coach Ady Boothroyd pitting his Watford side against Hull City, who finished third after a 1-0 defeat by Ipswich.

Leicester were relegated to League One along with Colchester United and Scunthorpe United.
