FORMER York City Knights skipper Dan Potter reckons his Keighley team will face a run for their money at Huntington Stadium if they are to retain top spot in National League Two.

The 29-year-old, who signed for the Cougars in March, having briefly retired from the game after rejecting a much-reduced contract offer from home-town club York, helped his new team move into pole position with a try in their 36-35 win over Rochdale.

They have now lost only once in seven outings, to second-placed Doncaster, but Potter believes they will be tested by a rejuvenated York.

"This is going to be a good game," he said. "York have improved a lot over the last few weeks and have put in three good performances.

"They've run up 50 points twice and only narrowly lost to Doncaster, who are the best team we've played.

"York haven't won a game at home yet and they'll see us as a big scalp."

Potter followed Jamaine Wray, Neil Lowe and George Rayner to Keighley, the other trio having left York in the off-season. But he says it won't be a case of proving to the Knights what they have lost.

"I don't think it's so much to do with that," said the centre, who is feeling rejuvenated and much sharper than when he first went to Cougar Park without pre-season behind him.

"Some of us probably didn't want to leave but I was disappointed with the offer I got. But we've all moved on, and that happens in rugby. I'm just looking to go back and having a good game."
