Man of the match: Tim Spears - the skipper passed a late fitness test yet went on to play the full 80 minutes, leading the offensive and defensive effort and constantly cajoling his mates around him.
Referee: Billy Pearson (Dewsbury) – was kept busy early on, and was generally okay.
Penalty count: 11-8
Half-time: 8-6
Weather: increasingly cloudy until the heavens opened half an hour in, hailstones coming down for a bit too, before it cleared up again for the second half.
Attendance: 906
Moment of the match: either Will Jubb's finish - juggling a rebound before touching down - or the final hooter, which signalled a marvellous York victory.
Gaffe of the match: a few too many penalties were conceded when the Knights needed to relieve pressure not invite more.
Gamebreaker: York's decisions to kick two penalty goals were vindicated as only two points separated the sides in the final reckoning. However, the Knights' defence was what won the game, especially when under siege in the final quarter. This included two wonderful catches under high swirling kicks - full-back Kieren Moss and winger Judah Mazive dealing with the pressure and diffusing the bombs - as Doncaster sought a turnaround.
Match rating: yet another Betfred League One nail-biter, with the Knights again showing their promotion credentials to beat the then table-topping Doncaster on their own turf, much like they did at Oldham.
