Man of the match: Joe Batchelor – the second-row scored one and made one and was central to much of the Knights’ better work. Brad Hey was excellent too in a strong left channel.

Referee: Callum Straw (Wakefield) – some questionable calls but generally okay.

Penalty count: 7-9

Half-time: 10-10.

Weather: mild, showers holding off until after the game.

Attendance: 1,362

Moment of the match: Brad Hey’s try which nearly won the game was a cracking solo effort, weaving a way through to the whitewash.

Gaffe of the match: There were a number of wrong decisions taken by the Knights during the game – had they been right, they would have won. Zeus Silk’s decision to hold down and give away a penalty proved the most critical one as James Feather scored the winner on the back of it.

Gamebreaker: James Feather’s try for the Cougars with three minutes to go won the game. And so did the hosts’ defence, when York winger Nev Morrison was tackled into touch near the flag in the dying seconds.

Match rating: This was a far cry from last week’s stunning success, with a below-par York this time turned over in a stodgy old affair at Cougar Park, one of the Knights’ least favourite grounds.
