York City Knights under-18s kick off with home win over Oldham

YORK CITY KNIGHTS’ under-18s beat Oldham 28-6 in their opening fixture of the season at Huntington Stadium last night.
Ash Winstanley and Greg Minikin scored two tries apiece and there were also scores for Adam Dent and Tom Fitzsimmons, while Matty Brewer and Lennox Green kicked one goal each.
Team manager Jack Stearman said: “It was a fine performance from everybody and we are really excited for the future.”
The game only went ahead after Stearman and other club officials spent two hours clearing surface water from the pitch.
