YORK City Knights reserves suffered the same fate as the first team when a first-half blitz condemned them to defeat in last night’s friendly.
The first team lost 32-22 at Workington in Championship One on Sunday after trailing 30-0 after 36 minutes, and last night the reserves lost 34-10 to their Dewsbury counterparts after falling 22-0 down in the opening 25 minutes.
Tries by Luke Helliwell and Tom Lineham, with one goaled by Jonathan Schofield, brought the Knights back into it, though they were hit by injuries to fringe first-teamer Kris Peacock (collarbone) and former academy prop Jack Stearman (ankle). Neither injuries were thought to be serious but they were being assessed today.
Alex Benson and Mike Mitchell, both dropped from the first team, played, but have not won back first-team berths for Sunday's league match at home to South Wales Scorpions, with Lineham replacing Mitchell in the backs and Luke Hardbottle replacing Benson in the forwards.
