YORK City Knights's Northern Rail Cup group tie away to Rochdale Hornets has been put back to Wednesday, February 17.
The game, the opening match of the season, was postponed on Sunday due to a frozen Spotland pitch.
The clubs had hoped to play it this midweek, either tomorrow or Wednesday night, but the weather forecast was for further frosts and wintry weather, so they decided to put it back two weeks rather than risk another call-off.
The Knights could not play next midweek as they have a potential money-spinning friendly at home to Leeds Rhinos on the Wednesday.
The game on February 17 takes place 24 hours before the Knights stage a reserve friendly encounter against Hull FC. There was a possibility some first-teamers might have had a run-out in that reserves game but now no players will double-up and the Knights were happy to agree to the new date for the trip to Spotland.
York now kick off their season this Sunday with a plum home tie against former Super League club Leigh Centurions.
