YORK City Knights boss James Ford had wanted one of the big boys at home in the fifth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup - and they duly landed Super League side Catalans Dragons.

Ford's buoyant League One team shocked Championship side Swinton 26-12 in the snow at Featherstone's Post Office Road ground on Sunday to go into the hat for the draw.

The French side were one of four top-flight clubs that entered at this stage - the lowest ranked four from last season's standings - with the remaining Super League teams to enter in round six.

They are unlikely to bring a bumper following over the Channel but Ford had wanted a tie that the Knights' marketing team could "get their teeth into", and the Dragons are one of the more glamorous teams in the hat.

Club chairman Jon Flatman reckoned it was the tie of the round.

He said: "It's a great tie. To take on any Super League club at any point is a great opportunity."

Asked if, like previous eye-catching match-ups against Toronto Wolfpack last summer and Bradford Bulls this season, this was a fitting game to promote heavily, Flatman said: "It's a game we're excited about.

"It's an opportunity for us to bring Super League rugby league to York and ensure we give them the respect required while hoping the people of York, North Yorkshire and the wider rugby league community turn out in number for what is surely the tie of the round."

The Knights, two divisions below the Dragons, will be massive underdogs - third tier teams beating full-time Super League side is virtually unheard of - but, when asked if York could win it, Flatman quipped: "There are two teams going into the contest and both will be determined, and those people that turn up to Bootham Crescent will be the first people to see who does win."

Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth round draw: Warrington Wolves v Hunslet or Bradford Bulls, Toronto Wolfpack v Barrow Raiders (to be played at Barrow), Widnes Vikings v Coventry Bears or Pilkington Recs, Leigh Centurions v London Broncos, Whitehaven v Rochdale, Halifax or Oldham v Hull KR, Doncaster v North Wales Crusaders or Featherstone Rovers, York City Knights v Catalans Dragons. Ties to be played on April 21 and 22.
