YORK City Knights' Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie away to Askam this weekend will be played on Saturday with a 2.30pm kick off.

It will also take place at the amateur club's own ground after Rugby Football League chiefs decided it passed the necessary regulations.

The National Conference League division two club, who play home league games at 2.30pm on Saturdays, had asked for special dispensation to stage the tie at their Sandy Lane venue rather than switch it to the home of their nearest pro club, Barrow.

Knights head coach James Ford said: "It won't make a difference to us what day we play on or what time - half an hour either way (from the usual 3pm kick off) isn't an issue. We will go with whatever Askam want.

"I don't know too much about Askam's facilities but the RFL have deemed they're up to standard and as such we go there.

"It's a game of rugby league between two sets of players and I'm sure it will be a tough contest."

Prop Graeme Horne is a doubt for the tie after departing Sunday's League One opener against Bradford in the first half - his knee injury was being assessed this week.

Ford said it was "highly likely" that loan and dual-reg players from Hull KR would be made available this weekend.
