HULL FC boss Lee Radford reckons York City Knights will quickly "see the benefits" of adding speedster Nick Rawsthorne to the ranks.

The 21-year-old, who joined Hull in the off-season after catching the eye at the end of last term with Championship big-guns Halifax, signed for York on loan last week.

He is set to make his debut for James Ford's evolving team in the League One trip to Oxford on Sunday.

Radford, whose team currently sit third in Super League, said: "I'm happy to let Nick get out and gain some first-team opportunity.

"Due to our reserve fixtures not being week to week, I think over the next month getting some game time into him is exactly what he needs.

"Having performed really well in our first two reserve team fixtures, I'm sure York will also see the benefits of bringing Nick in.

"Having a good relationship with Fordy, I'm confident he'll be going into a well-drilled environment for their upcoming fixtures."

A former England rugby union youth international, Rawsthorne played against Castleford in pre-season and has also shone for the Airlie Birds' under-23s, starring in their win over Warrington in his last outing before making the temporary switch to the Minster city.
