YORK City Knights' unofficial supporters club have welcomed the new regime at the Kingstone Press League One outfit.

Members of KISS – the Knights' Independent Supporters' Society – have met new owner Jon Flatman and have been left "optimistic of a well-run club on and off the field".

The supporters' club had previously been York's official fans' group but became independent after committee members fell out with former Knights chairman John Guildford.

KISS chairman Gary Hall said: "On behalf of the supporters' club, I'd like to welcome Jon Flatman and (backer) Mark Campbell to York and thank them for the work they've done so far.

"We look forward to working together with them in the future for the benefit of professional rugby league in York.

"Everything looks positive and professional moving forward and I'm optimistic of a well-run club on and off the field.

"We're impressed with their business plan and three-year vision to build the Knights and get into the Championship, and with the way they want to move the club forward.

"I get the impression they like what we're about and I certainly like what they're doing."
